An inpatient
rehabilitation center, other points being equal, is superior to an outpatient center when it comes to effectively handling substance
abuse and addiction.
Inpatient is where the client resides at the
rehabilitation center as opposed to commuting.
One reason it is more effective is simply being able to remove the individual from the environment where the
addiction was running out of control.
Away from dealers, family and job stresses, and any other triggers.
Another reason is being among like minded peers who are seeking real and workable answers. There are of course differences in willingness and desire to achieve a drug free life. There are several things necessary in order to affect
addiction recovery for a life time.
One of these is a drug free withdrawal and full
detoxification program.
Substitute or maintenance drugs are not a viable long term option.
Ask any heroin addict who is now using methadone in addition to heroin, or ask any meth addict who now finds themselves abusing anti-depressants on a regular basis.

Drug

Long term because we work not from the viewpoint of time spent, but from the viewpoint of results obtained.
It is self-paced and generally is 90-120 days.
It is drug free as we use no substitute prescriptions drugs to handle an already existing
addiction problem, such as substituting methadone for heroin. (Methadone is actually more harmful and addictive than heroin).
Non-traditional because we do not believe
addiction is a disease that must be borne for a life time. We empower the individual with new skills and abilities that allows for the creation of a lifetime of drug free, happy and productive living.
The
12 step program has been around in various forms since the 1920’s.
It basically involves 12 different steps done by the addict or
alcoholic in an attempt to gain control over the
addiction or alcoholism.
There are thousands of local meetings throughout the world whose membership uses the 12 steps as their basic approach.
Many of the short term
drug rehabs also use the 12 step approach to solving
addiction or alcoholism.
There is absolutely no doubt that this approach works for some and works well. However, overall success rates tend to be dismally low. For instance AA reports a meager 5-7% retention rate for those attending these meetings. All is not hopeless for you or a loved one who has found a
