Drug Addiction

Drug Addiction
Drug addiction has been called, and deservedly so, the plague of the modern world. There is hardly a family in the world that hasn’t been impacted by drug addiction in one form or another. Current thinking has not been successful in curbing this plague let alone solving it. Traditional treatment options have simply failed to deliver on any significant level. For over 40 years now Narconon has been delivering a non-traditional approach to healing addiction with proven, consistent, long-term results. Narconon is a long-term and drug free approach that actually empowers the individual to not only cease use and end cravings, but delivers into his hands the skills and abilities to move forward and face life’s challenges without resorting to drug or alcohol use out of desperation. A drug free productive lifetime is our specialty!

Outpatient Rehab and Addiction

Outpatient Rehab
An outpatient rehab is a drug treatment facility where the individual goes for treatment and then returns home at the end of the day. It could be the personal goes for a counseling session, or perhaps a seminar. All day seminars are often used as well. These offer viable services for those with a lighter abuse problem or as a starting point for full treatment. One thing that should be watched for in medical outpatient rehabs is the use of additional drugs in a mistaken attempt to handle the current drug problem, such as methadone. For most with a serious drug abuse and addiction problem an impatient and more long term treatment program is more effective, though outpatient treatment can be a good beginning if chosen carefully.

Rehab Program and Addiction

Rehab Program
A rehab program should be a series of steps done in sequence to gradually increase a person’s mental, emotional, and physical health. This involves a full and complete handling of cravings, guilt and depression that accompany any addiction and addictive lifestyle. These are also the major sources of continued drug use and relapse. The program would also include an increase in skills and abilities that will be needed for the restoring of relationships, trust, finances, career, hopes and dreams. All this is not only possible but is being achieved on a daily basis at Narconon Arrowhead. Our 76% success rate when compared to 16-20% for more traditional short term programs speaks for itself.

Heroin Addiction and Addiction

Heroin Addiction
Heroin addiction, as with any of the opium derivatives, creates a severe physical/mental dependency. With regular heroin use, tolerance develops. This means the abuser must use more and more heroin to achieve the same intensity or effect. With heroin addiction the body has adapted to the presence of the drug and withdrawal symptoms occur if use is reduced or stopped. Withdrawal, which in heroin addiction may occur as early as a few hours after the last administration, produces drug craving, restlessness, muscle and bone pain, insomnia, diarrhea and vomiting, cold flashes with goose bumps (‘cold turkey’), kicking movements (‘kicking the habit’), and other symptoms. Narconon Arrowheads unique approach to withdrawal keeps these symptoms to a minimum and by actual report sometimes totally removes these symptoms.

Drug Abuse Treatment Center and Addiction

Drug Abuse Treatment Center
What kind of drug abuse treatment center is Narconon Arrowhead? Well, Narconon is a long term, drug free, non-traditional drug abuse treatment center. What this means is that Narconon for one does not believe in the use of drugs in the treatment of drug or alcohol abuse. Rather we address the factors leading up to and then continuing alcohol and drug abuse. Substituting one drug for another just makes no sense! We are long term in that the program is designed for results not amount of time spent in rehab. Our average stay is generally 90 – 120 days depending on individual needs. Our students go at their own pace to insure the full abilities needed are gained. We are also non-traditional meaning the normal 12 step methodologies common to shorter programs and not used by rather an approach of gaining and using new abilities to produce a happy and drug free, productive life.
